So many centiliters of wine

We're in Paris!

We arrived yesterday via Thalys - it was a three hour train ride from Amsterdam. Then it was two transfers on the Metro to our 11th arrondissement apartment.

It has become customary for us to arrive during a rain storm. It hasn't rained in weeks and as we were misguidedly hauling our luggage around, searching for our apartment, it started pouring.

We were soaked by the time we hauled our luggage up our five flights of stairs to our adorable, temporary digs.

But we're in Paris! So we were undeterred. We settled in, hung dried our clothes and went out in search of dinner. We had read about Soya while were still in Oakland and holy delicious, I'm so glad we did.

Vegetables have been hard to come by so a healthy, vegetarian meal was a welcome change. Plus Soya was adorable.

Actually everywhere we've been except the supermarche across the street has been out of hand A-D-O-R-A-B-L-E.

this was in the bathroom, thats how cute everything is.

Our apartment is near the canal Saint Martin and after Soya we walked along the canal, feeling very pleased with ourselves for planting ourselves in Paris for the week.

Then we started drinking in earnest. Wine is relatively inexpensive here and we'd shared 25 centiliters at Soya, then sprung for a whole bottle at a tapas joint. Our table was a tiny desk and Dre was cracking us up, pretending to be at work. After watching our Parisian neighbors excuse themselves for cigarettes, Dre became convinced she needed a pack. I lectured her about the evils of smoking. Then she lectured me about lecturing her. Then we left, bummed a cigarette and both smoked it.

While normally I think smoking is a terrible idea: this was hilarious.

hilarious. clearly.
Okay. Smoking isn't actually hilarious, but we had a great time. Hit up a couple more bars for another few glasses of wine and were perfectly in love by the time we made it home.

Paris is dreamy and we plan to get out today to see some more sights.

Just as soon as Dre wakes up...
